This notice explains how OwnCoach handles consumer health data. It is written for the Washington My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law, and we apply it to everyone, wherever you live. It adds to our Privacy Policy.
Consumer health data we collect
Consumer health data is information that is linked to you and describes your physical health. In OwnCoach that is:
- body details: weight, height, sex and date of birth;
- what you eat: food log entries, foods and recipes, calories and nutrients, and nutrient targets;
- training: workouts, exercises, sets, runs and workout goals;
- goals and progress: weight goals, streaks and trends worked out from your logs;
- anything health related you write in notes or show in photos.
We don't collect precise location, biometric data, or data from health platforms or wearables.
Where it comes from
From you, when you enter it in the app. Some data, such as trends, totals and streaks, is worked out by OwnCoach from what you entered. When you scan a barcode, the nutrition values come from the Open Food Facts database.
Why we collect and use it
Only to provide the features you use: storing your logs, showing them back to you, and working out totals, trends, streaks and goal progress. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to make decisions about you.
By creating an account and entering your data, you consent to this. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the data in the app or deleting your account.
Who we share it with
We share consumer health data only with the processors that run OwnCoach for us and only to run the service:
- Hetzner Online GmbH, which hosts our servers and database in the European Union;
- Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, which stores photos you add.
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number goes to Open Food Facts, without any account details. We never sell consumer health data, we don't let third parties collect it through OwnCoach, and we don't use geofencing.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- confirm whether we collect, share or sell your consumer health data;
- see that data, and the list of companies we share it with;
- have that data deleted;
- withdraw your consent to our collecting and sharing it.
How to use your rights
You can edit or delete your data yourself in the app. Under More, then Account, you can also download all of it with Export my data, or delete your account and all of its data with Delete account. For any other request, write to admin@owncoach.app from the email address on your account, so we can check the request is really from you. We answer within 30 days. We never treat you differently for using your rights.
If we turn down your request, we explain why. You can appeal by replying to that email, and we answer the appeal within 45 days. If your appeal is also turned down, you can contact the Attorney General of Washington or Nevada, depending on where you live.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
